Exotic Tahitian Pearls

In fact most of the Tahitian gems you buy are cultured and not natural. However cultivated gems meet the same standards of a natural gem. This has to be attributed to the skill levels of the farmers and the people concerned with rearing of black oysters. In case of natural, the ;Mother-of-Pearl; is nothing but the inner shell where nacre (a compound matrix that is essential for the formation of this gem) gets deposited gradually to from the black pearls. In cultivated black pearls, the ;Mother of Pearl; (which is a small round structure) is grafted or artificially inserted into the body of the oysters. The production of cultivated black pearls would take around three to four years whereas natural gems would invariably take longer time than the cultivated ones. Natural ones are very hard to find these days.
